1.  Lenovo A6000 – Price Rs. 6999 available on flipkart.com

Pros:  5 inch HD IPS Display with smooth touch response and superb brightness; 1 GB RAM offers seamless multi-tasking and can play graphic intensive games; Dual SIM, 1.2 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8916 Processor offers power packed performance; 2 MP Secondary Camera sufficient in this price range; 8 MP Primary Camera offers many options to edit and capture your best moments; Twin Speaker with Dolby Digital Plus offers superb sound clarity; 4G LTE support is always welcome; Great build quality in this price segment; Apps can be installed directly to SD card; No heating issue, Vibe UI 2.0 is nice and refreshing and user friendly.

Cons:  No Gorilla glass, takes 3-4 hours to be completely charged, capacitive touch buttons are not backlit, no LED notification light.

Pros:  960 x 240 qHD display resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, 1 GB RAM, reputed brand, better build quality, can move apps to the SD card, can uninstall pre-installed apps, support Wi-Fi hotspot, good touch response.

Cons:  No front facing camera, 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon dual core processor (should have had 1.3 Ghz Quad Core processor), battery not removable, plays high-end games like Asphalt 8 with some lag.

3.  Micromax Unite 2 with 8 GB ROM – Price Rs. 6000 onwards.

Pros:  1 GB RAM, 1.3 Ghz Mediatek Quad Core Processor, 4.7 inches 800 x 480 pixels IPS display with good viewing angles, can play HD videos, can play Asphalt 8 without any lag whatsoever, plays Frontline Commando 2 with slight lag, can install/move apps to SD card, good battery backup with 2000 mAh battery, App management system makes sure no background activity and availability of ample RAM, internal storage - 5.28 GB out of 8 GB ROM available out of the box, best value for money.

Cons:  Poor after sales service, cannot uninstall preinstalled apps, poor quality back panel, overall design could have been more attractive and sleek, does slightly heat up but that is the case with almost all the phones.

4.  Samsung Z1 with Tizen OS– Price Rs. 5900

Pros:  Great build quality, superb value for money, great touch response, superb display, WahtsApp and Facebook work without any problems, Tizen store has lots of good simple games that can help you relax, this is the future for Samsung to take Android head-on, fresh looking and user friendly Tizen OS, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi direct, plenty of goodies as introductory offer.

Cons:  Larger screen at this price point would really get the competition thinking; more famous games and apps in Tizen store would be a welcome addition.

5.  Spice Dream Uno, Micromax A1, Karbonn Sparkle 5 (Android One Phones) – Price Rs.  6299 (flipkart.com), Rs. 6499 (amazon.in), and Rs. 6399 (snapdeal.com).

Pros:  1.3 Ghz Quad Core processor, 1 GB RAM, Android 4.4 Kitkat with guaranteed updates from Google for the next two years, 4.5 inches IPS display, primary camera 5 mp and secondary camera 2 mp, HD video recording, plays full HD videos, 854 x 480 pixels IPS display, good for gaming - plays games like Dead Trigger 2, Asphalt 8, etc., without any lag, 10 point multi-touch, all regular sensors available (light, proximity, magnetic, etc.), can install apps/games on to the SD card.

Cons:  Cannot take snaps without SD card, 4 GB ROM, only 2.27 GB internal memory available for use out of the box, 1700 mAh battery (could have given 2000 mAh), no Gorilla glass.
